Team Domenica is a charity, based in Brighton, that supports people with learning disabilities and autism to gain meaningful employment and thrive in life.

When Team Domenica unexpectedly lost the developer who looked after their site, they were left without full control of their website. That’s when they reached out to me.

Taking back control

My first job was to get the Team Domenica site back on solid foundations. I set up a new Git repository and reconstructed parts of the codebase (such as Sass files, which had been lost) so that the site could be maintained again. I helped renew plugin licences that had lapsed and took over ongoing support and maintenance.

Team Domenica had a stable setup again and someone to call whenever they needed a hand.

A fresh new look, built on familiar foundations

With the site back in their control, Team Domenica were ready for a brand and website refresh. The branding and design were led by FilthyMedia, who created a warm new look across both the main Team Domenica site and The North Star — the UK’s first pub built to train young people with learning disabilities and autism for paid work.

Team Domenica were comfortable with how their WordPress site worked, so I kept the back end as it was. The new theme was built on top of their existing install, and we worked closely to polish every page.

I launched The North Star first, in around four weeks, followed by the main Team Domenica site in eight weeks — quick turnarounds for projects of this size.

Because I built on the setup Team Domenica already knew, there was no retraining and no new tools to get used to. They update their site exactly as they did before.

Marc is absolutely fantastic to collaborate with. He quickly understands what we're aiming for and delivers work that goes above and beyond the brief, with smooth, responsive results across every device. He's adaptable, clear in his communication, and makes the whole process feel straightforward. He also helps us think carefully about our audience, from user experience to data protection, making sure our website truly works for both our team and the people who use it. Marc has become a real part of the Team Domenica family, and we're so grateful for the support we get through 16by9.

An ongoing partnership

Since launch, I’ve stayed on as Team Domenica’s support and maintenance partner. What began as a rescue has become a long-term relationship. It’s a pleasure to support a charity that’s making such a difference to the people they help and their local community.

Marc is a dream to work with and we're thrilled with the 16by9 service. He is always able to understand our needs in a very holistic way. No matter how big or small, he takes a brief and turns it into an excellent end product which translates beautifully to mobile. For us, Marc is an essential life-line and has become part of the Team Domenica family.
